Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA) Scholarship

Sponsored by the Apartment and as Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA), the Scholarship Program offers graduates of Prince George’s County high schools paid tuition to Prince George’s Community College, a two-year scholarship worth $6,000.
AOBA Scholars participate in a successful academic and career preparation program with a special emphasis on leadership and community service. They also have an opportunity to interact with professionals in the apartment and office building industry as well as college staff through summer internships, leadership seminars, mentoring programs, and academic and career counseling.
2021 Eligibility Requirements
• A resident of Prince George’s County.
• Current graduate or have graduated within the last three years from high school, preference will be given to students who have graduated from a Prince George’s County high school.
• Accepted for admission to Prince George’s Community College and completed the college’s placement test and application by the deadline.
• A minimum of 2.5 cumulative high school/college grade point average; students are required to submit a copy of their high school and/or college transcript(s).
• Evidence of readiness to start college credit courses (i.e., successful completion of developmental coursework if necessary.
• Demonstrated financial need (in lieu of a FAFSA, students may submit alternate documentation, e.g. a letter from their landlord stating financial need, SNAP letter, or free/reduced lunch documentation).
• Essay; In 300 words or more, explain clearly and concisely why you deserve an AOBA Scholarship. Discuss your career goals and how the scholarship can help you achieve them. Also, please address one of the following three topics:
(a) Your community and volunteer activities
(b) What leadership means to you?
